A message from the CEO

The fires sweeping across California are leaving behind a trail of destruction that is impossible to measure in numbers alone. The scars left behind by this kind of devastation go far beyond what we can see – they also run deep within the hearts and minds of those living through it.
To the firefighters, first responders, volunteers, and all those who have stepped forward to battle the flames and care for the injured, we see your courage, your sacrifice, and your exhaustion. We know how much you carry – not just the weight of the work but the weight of what you’ve witnessed.
To the families who have had to flee their homes, those who are staring at the ashes of what once was, and those waiting for news of loved ones – we are with you. Communities come together in the aftermath of these tragedies for a reason: because healing cannot happen in isolation.
To anyone affected by these fires, I want you to hear this: You don’t have to face this alone. Lean on each other. Reach out. Accept help.
To our supporters and donors who are looking to us now: we are ready. We are eager to step forward, to bring care and support where it is most needed.
For more than two decades, we have supported those working in high-stress environments, whether in the U.S. or conflict-affected regions around the world, from Ukraine to Gaza. The fires here in California echo the crises we’ve responded to globally. Our team is prepared to deliver the same evidence-based support and resilience-building services that they have in over 146 countries.
This tragedy holds particular significance for us at Headington Institute. Founded 22 years ago in Pasadena, California, this community is part of who we are. Our hearts ache for everyone impacted, and we are committed to standing with you during this challenging time.
To all of you who make this work possible – thank you for your trust and your generosity.
In solidarity,
Diane
