Building Resilience, Seven Minutes at a Time

Over a year ago we posted a link on our Facebook page to the New York Times seven minute workout. This Facebook post (second only to the cross cultural communication post) was one of our most popular posts ever. We were thrilled with the workout because it addressed all the major muscle groups  and incorporated the latest in exercise science without requiring a gym. This is relevant for many of you who work in extreme locations or tight quarters.
 
We were also thrilled because research shows that those who exercise frequently (and at high enough intensity) increase their adaptive range in response to stress. In other words, the self-imposed stress of exercise makes individuals more adaptive and less likely to be overwhelmed in the face of surprise threats (critical incidents, unexpected stressful situations). Exercise is a measurable way of increasing your resilience in the face of stress.
 
So back by popular demand we’re posting the “Advanced 7-minute” workout for all of you who downloaded the last one and are ready for a new challenge. If any of you have had success using this workout, or have others you love, we’d love to hear about it!
